What we believe:
We believe that the Bible, in its entirety, is the only inspired, inerrant Word of God.
We believe that there is one God eternally existent in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
We believe that Jesus Christ is God the Son, born of a virgin, fully God and fully Man, who willingly died on the cross for the sins of Man and rose from the dead to sit at the right hand of the Father.
We believe that all men are by their very nature sinful and that the forgiveness of sin and the gift of eternal life come only through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.
We believe in the ministry of the Holy Spirit who indwells those who are born again by the Spirit of God, and enables believers to live a godly life.
We believe in the personal return of Jesus Christ to reign in power and glory on the earth. He will judge the saved and the lost – the saved will receive eternal life and the lost will receive everlasting punishment.
We believe in the unity of all believers who love, worship and obey Jesus Christ as the Son of God.
We believe that it is the chief duty of all who love and obey Jesus Christ to proclaim his gospel to their neighbors and to the world and to respond with compassion to the suffering around them in the ways that Jesus did, regardless of race, religion, nationality or social status.
JESUS IS KING (MATTHEW 28:18)
HIS PRIMARY AGENDA IS TO ADVANCE THE KINGDOM OF GOD (MATTHEW 6:9-10)
BY MAKING DISCIPLES OF ALL NATIONS (MATTHEW 28:19)
HIS KEY AGENT IN THIS TASK IS THE LOCAL CHURCH (EPHESIANS 3:9-11)
THE MINISTRY OF THE CHURCH MUST BE WHOLISTIC (COLOSSIANS 1:19-20)
THE MINISTRY OF THE CHURCH MUST BE INCARNATIONAL (JOHN 17:15-19)
THE LOCAL CHURCH MUST OPERATE INTENTIONALLY FROM THE BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW (COLOSSIANS 1:15-18)
Our Understanding of Transformational Development:
actMED’ s understanding of transformational development draws from our biblical affirmation that all persons are created in the image of God with the right and potential to live just, free and dignified lives. Therefore, we reject conditions, structures and systems which perpetuate poverty, injustice, the abuse of human rights and the destruction of the environment.
We believe that transformational development involves change for all those involved; those with power, wealth and influence who control and who display an attitude of over-consumption and those most affected by oppressive structures and systems. We promote sensitization and awareness in industrialized nations for the underlying cause of poverty.
We reaffirm human rights, cultural and spiritual sensitivity, Non Discrimination and gender equity on any basis including gender, ethnicity, culture, political affiliation, religion, age and sexual identity.
Our relationships with the people we partner with are built on the basis of mutual respect and the love of Christ. We reject a mentality of competition power, position, status, or control.
We commit ourselves to maintain a learning attitude, be humbled, patient, and to bear with one another in love. We make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace in our faith.
We uphold the highest professional, ethical and moral standards of accountability, recognizing our accountability to those with whom we work, to those who support us, to each other, and ultimately to God.
